Sunday 28 May 2022 - GLOBALLS
GLOBALLS is delighted to announce that our brand-new Jurassic course will be opening on 28th May 2022, exactly 6 years after we first ever opened the doors, back in 2016. 3 times the size and in a brand-new venue, the former Jimmy’s world restaurant site at the Marina. The business is owned by a husband-and-wife team who imagined, designed, and constructed every aspect of GLOBALLS. We have faced many challenges, Brexit, a global pandemic, and an economic recession to name but a few but have battled against all odds to become the fastest growing (and best!) attraction in Brighton, frequented by some of the biggest social media influencers and celebrities. When it comes to mini golf, GLOBALLS changes the game and our Jurassic course is where it all started, so we decided to give it a glow- up! You will be stunned by the incredible attention to detail, playing 12 mixed ability holes amongst life size rainbow painted dinosaurs on our completely bespoke and highly creative course against the backdrop of hand painted specially designed artwork created by local artists. Years of industry experience have enabled us to create the perfect game of minigolf, both challenging enough to be fun for the most ardent mini golfer whilst being playable by all ages from toddler up, as well as being fully accessible with specially adapted equipment available. If dinosaurs aren’t your cup of tea, we also have Aquatica under the sea themed mini golf, featuring a slide and ball pit and Carnival games, 10 interactive fairground themed challenges to play against each other.
Sunday 28 May 2022 - Hassocks Train Station
Clayton is right on the doorstep of Brighton and has some secrets to share . This will be a walk from Hassocks to Clayton ( 1 mile ) through Butchers Wood . In the village we will see the Clayton Tunnel , designed in 1841 and hear the story of the disaster that happened there in 1846 when two trains collided head on . We will also visit the church of St John The Baptist which house medieval murals from the 12th Century . After a drink at The Jack and Jill pub we will go up to the Jill windmill itself which will have been recently repainted ( Jack is privately owned ) , and hear about it's history and the windmills place in Sussex agriculture . This will be a dog friendly walk for those that are up for walking longer distances than my usual tours. It will also be a longer trip timewise so leave the afternoon free and bring vittles with you too . We will meet at Hassocks train station front entrance ( lots of parking there too ) and come back to the same place at the end . Look forward to seeing you there • What to bring Water , Sunscreen , Walking shoes , sandwiches and sunshine ( if we all bring some with us there will be plenty )
Sunday 28 May 2022 - The Old Market
Everything begins with movement. Explore the concepts of contemporary mime in a playful workshop with DeRonde/Deroo, the company behind the award-winning After The Echo (The Old Market, 27th-29th May). Mime is not about pretending, it’s about being. Unrelated to pantomime, this physical theatre practice is about analysing and understanding body language and applying it in a dramatic context; learning how to use your body and the space around it to tell a story. This workshop will focus on playing and improvising using the body as a starting point rather than a text, character or attribute. We will explore a wide spectrum of movement from small, detailed and precise acting to large and grotesque gestures. The workshop is open to all ages and abilities. DeRonde/Deroo consists of Dutch mimers Nick Deroo and Tom de Ronde. They studied at the Academy of Theatre & Dance in Amsterdam. DeRonde/Deroo were invited to Brighton Fringe after winning the Amsterdam Fringe Award in 2021.
