Brighton and Hove Pubs

Brighton has an amazing amount of pubs and bars (Hove has quite a few too), supposedly one for every day of the year. The great Hanover residential area especially, seems to have a pub for every 10 inhabitants.

Quite possibaly the best pub in Brighton. The atmosphere serves only to welcome the weary traveller after a long days shopping at the famous 'London rd market'. The genial bar staff only accentuate the family atmosphere oozing from every Mitre regular. But beware! After a few martnini and lemanades, Pauline the landlady becomes everyones lover.

Bar Roque (Royal Albion Hotel)

Marine Parade,
Brighton,
East Sussex,

Bar Roque is situated opposite Pool valley on the main coast road, near the Palace Pier. It's part of the Albion Hotel, and is quite lively on the weekends with guest D'J's often playing. Drink prices are the usual in the daytime, before 5pm (Fosters, £2.20 Cronenburg £2.40, Wine by the glass £2.80 etc) and after 5pm till 8pm weekdays, it's nice and cheap; Fosters £1.50, Cronenburg £1.80, Wine £1.80 etc. On Tuesday and Thursday nights pints are £1 from 8pm till close, and on weekends the bar stays open late. You'll find it busy in the evenings, attracting a younger crowd, whilst in the day it's more family orinentated. Ok place to go for a cheap drink.. but can become a little rowdy on weekend nights. Staff are friendly and there is a widescreen TV for football etc. Good location for Pier.

With a perfect mix of locals, passing trade and students/young people The Rosehill Tavern has probably one of the friendliest atmospheres in any pub in Brighton. If pubs that put the emphasis on the customer as oppose to making a quick buck is your thing then a visit here is a must - but be warned you may not be able to stop coming back. With a pool table, dart board, board games and someone always willing to give you a game there is always something to do. It has a juke box which caters for all tastes and a big screen on which to watch sport you couldn't really ask for much else in a pub. The drinks are reasonably priced and food is served in the afternoons. The barstaff are efficient and friendly and the ever present locals always welcoming. Just one thing, watch the language - it's a no swearing pub!

As well as becoming techno friendly - we've recently become a 'hot spot' for those wanting to bring in their laptops and surf with a pint - we also have many traditional qualities. I.e. darts teams for both men and women; host to the men's Saturday and Sunday football teams and have succumbed to Sky's recent incredibly inflated price increase and show all premiership action on 4 various screens, including a new 50' plasma. There's also an exciting seasonal menu and cooked by the lovely landlady inc. traditional Sunday roast lunches for only £5.95.
