| THE LEVEL | ||||||
The Level is a small green area to the north east of the town centre, linking the main London and Lewes Roads and is therefore a busy thoroughfare. The Levels were once open fields where fishermen could safely spread their nets, and are now edged by the remains of a double avenue of Elm trees - unfortunately many of these trees were destroyed by the hurricane of 1987. There is a children's playground and, in the summer, a cafe and paddling pool. It also hosts the only skateboard run in Brighton town centre. |
